Edinburgh Harp Festival 2015

I had such a great week at the Edinburgh Harp Festival! I learned a lot of music, was inspired to compose, and met some great people. It's always interesting when a group of harpists get together. I was also able to help out at the foundation booth - it's easy to sell CD's when you love the music!

I'm excited to share with you all what I learned - I'll be hosting a Concert Window House concert sometime this summer to do so! More information on that soon.

Hope you all have had a lovely April!

My professional new year's resolution - write more blog entries! And to make them more interactive. You'll be seeing more photos, videos, polls, discussions ... I am now the proud owner of an iPhone (my mom's old 3g iPhone!) which means I can update this blog from anywhere in the world. Which is good because this year I'm going to be doing a LOT of traveling! I'm hoping to visit Brussels, Antwerp, Paris, Heidelberg (Germany), Amsterdam, explore the rest of Wales, and pop up to Scotland at some point! My uncle is having a 50th wedding anniversary celebration in October in the outer hebrides. I can't wait to go there again, so much beauty in that part of the world!

The first weekend in January, I was asked to give a harp workshop on improvisation. It was a really neat day. There were 4 harpists there; 3 on pedal harp, one on lever harp. I introduced them to the basic blues chords/structure and the idea behind improvising. They even learned a blues tune!

But now, I am back in Wales with classes starting tomorrow! I am excited to get back into the swing of school and my life here.
